Downers Grove North High School
The purpose of this page is to provide you with some information about high school. The majority of our students will attend Downers Grove North High School (DGN). This school is literally across the street to the east. For DGN, we have included information about their registration process. We have also included links to some area private schools. As always, please feel free to contact the Herrick Support Staff if you have any questions.
Current 8th Grade - Registration Information

In this section, we have included some information about the registration process. We have some important dates to share with you.
Early January - Individual Registration Packets get mailed to 8th grade students
1/25/21 - DGN Freshman Open House (5:15 p.m. in the field House)
1/30/21 - Freshman Registration Conferences at DGN with high school counselor.
August 2021 - Freshman Orientation

Open House for Incoming Freshmen - Monday, January 25, 2021
Purpose - To acquaint families with the variety of curricular as well as athletic and co-curricular activities available at North High School.
FYI: This is a strong and successful tradition at North High School. Historically, over 85% of 8th grade families attend the program.
The Open house segment, beginning at 5:15 p.m. continuing until 6:15 p.m., provides an opportunity to visit the library, writing/fine arts lab, curricular labs and radio station. The Activity/Athletic Open House segment also begins at 5:15 p.m. continuing until 6:15 p.m. The Formal Curriculum Program begins at 6:15 p.m. in the auditorium and continues until 8:32 p.m. providing and opportunity to visit six curricular presentations.

Freshman Registration Appointments - Saturday, January 30, 2021
Purpose: To register 8th grade students for their North High courses
Use: Parents receive their scheduled appointment in the freshman registration packet mailed to each student's home during the first week of January. They will also receive a reminder of the registration appointment at the Freshman Open House.
Eighth grade registration appointments will be one-on-one: DGN counselor, parent and student. Parents will be required to update any demographic (address, phone, email, etc.) information before proceeding to their counselor appointment. Parents will be notified that they must provide required documentation in order to change their address and proceed with their appointment. Counselor appointments will be 5-7 minutes in length.

We can coordinate communication with the school (copies of transcripts, recommendations from teachers, etc. ).
